Mezzo-Soprano Leyly Bagherof is a first generation American, born and raised in Greenville, SC. Previously performed roles include Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti’s The Medium, the Second Lady and the Second Spirit in Mozart’s The Magic Flute as well as Hansel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. She has also been on stage in the roles of Alice Ford and Dorabella in various scenes recitals. Ms. Bagherof has placed first in many of the South Carolina NATS competitions as well as the NATS regional competitions. In 2017 she was one of the final six competitors in her category for the annual Classical Singer Competition. In previous years Ms. Bagherof has attended prestigious summer programs such as the Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival in Maiori, Italy, the Washington National Opera Institute at American University in Washington, D.C. and, most recently, the SongFest Institute in Los Angeles, California where she was a Young Artist. Ms. Bagherof was both a Herring Music Scholar as well as a Skinner Music Scholar at Furman University. Upcoming engagements include performing the role of Rosine in Thomas Pasatieri’s opera, Signor Deluso as well as the role of Un Patre in Maurice Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortilèges. In May of 2018 Leyly received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Furman University where she studied with Dr. Grant Knox. Leyly is currently in the first year of her Master’s Degree at the Eastman School of Music where she studies with Professor Kathryn Cowdrick.
